Newport Harbor Episode 1 “Crush… Interrupted”

Summary of Episode 1 - Crush Interrupted
The episode is divided into three chapters:
- Boyfriend Potential
- Daddy’s Girl
- Awkward
Boyfriend Potential
Chrissy and Sasha start off the show playing tennis together talking about the last 4 years. Chrissy brings up that Clay called her earlier and that they are just friends. They have never kissed or taken the next step to further the relationship. But maybe Clay wants more? We will have to see if Allie gets in the way. The only thing holding Chrissy back is her strict parents. She has a curfew and never had a boyfriend. Allie and her friend Samantha start gossiping about how Clay is cute and is boyfriend potential and in the midst of all this Allie confesses that it would be cool to have a boyfriend. Chrissy Hopes that she can ignite a spark between her and Clay when they all go out to a Hibachi Dinner, but Allie begins to crush on him as well after Chrissy’s strict daddy calls her.
Daddy’s Girl
Chrissy along with the whole Newport Harbor gang are going to go to Palm Springs with no parents and are going to be staying in their own Villas. But Chrissy’s daddy breaks the news and says that they are going to be in connecting rooms so they can keep a close eye on her. On the other hand Allie’s dad just asks if she has his American Express card and says goodbye and have fun. Grant and Clay are at the golf course and start talking about Samantha’s birthday and Grant asks what the deal was with Chrissy and Clay. While they are at Samantha’s birthday dinner Clay needs to watch out for Clay swooping in on Chrissy because he is getting a little too close. After dinner Clay and Chrissy end up in her room, and her father calls her forcing a curfew while the rest of the kids continue to party. Before things start to heat up with Chrissy and Clay, her father comes and takes her away.
Awkward
After the trip at Palm Springs, Chrissy is walking her dog and runs into Clay washing his car but things are a little awkward. Chrissy admits that her dad apologizes to her the next day for taking her away from Clay, and is hoping that she can redeem herself after the embarrassing incident with her parents in Palm Springs. In the end, Allie is seen walking in Clay’s house while Chrissy is falling asleep disappointingly losing Clay slowing. Who will win over Clay? Will it be Chrissy or Allie, we will have to wait and see.

This show would be so much more enjoyable if MTV wired these kids so that every time they said “like” or “dude” they received an electric shock. Either that or drop them off in the middle of downtown Detroit and call it Survivor: Stuck up Rich White Kids Get What’s Coming to Them.
I have to say I watched Newport Beach and kept thinking “I cannot tell these girls apart”. They all looked alike to me except Chrissy but only because her hair was darker than the others. I imagine not even the boys can tell them apart as they seem to jump from one girl to another without much remorse - one blonde being as good as another. I also have to say these boys are remarkably good looking for high school - I imagine the producers went through a local modeling agent or something. or do they just grow them cuter in a socal beach town? Okay, onto Real World please do snarky recaps of this season. The fact that they sent some of the stupidest Americans I have ever witnessed to represent us in Australia. Bad things can only come from this not that I won’t watch the show but i’ll doing it with horrifed look on my face. so please entertain me with your observations.
